Welcome To La Maison Du Bourg
La Maison du Bourg is a large stone built farmhouse which has been tastefully and sympathetically renovated, maintaining many original features: flagged floor in kitchen, exposed stone and beams throughout, using local materials where possible. La Maison du Bourg is our permanent home and is furnished as such, making it a little more comfortable and homely than the average gite. The stone walls are extremely thick keeping the house cool in summer and warm in winter.
The house is set in an elevated, west facing position overlooking the village and a stone’s throw from the newly renovated 12th Century church. Accessed along a private road and with little passing traffic, apart from the occasional tractor, you can be sure of privacy and tranquillity. We have a small (but growing) kitchen garden from which fruit and vegetables can be purchased, when available. We keep sheep, chickens and sometimes pigs.
Halfway between the towns of Eymoutiers and Peyrat le Chateau in the Haute Vienne, Limousin. St Amand le Petit is set in farmland and although the hamlet is peaceful, there is plenty to do in the area. This unspoilt (and largely unknown) region of France is ideal for families or groups, with a wide variety of activities available. Ideal for: cyclists; walkers; bird-watchers; artists; canoeists; nature lovers … in fact anyone who loves being surrounded by nature and wants to enjoy a ‘greener’ holiday.
Thanks for your wonderful welcome and hospitality.
We’ve loved our time here in this beautiful home in the heart of France.
We look forward to our next visit.
Thanks Paul and Sue for helping to get the week off to a good start with tea and cake, a delicious evening meal and a welcome pack which lasted most of the week!”
